My daughter has been attending Chico Art School for the past six years, beginning when she was only eight years old. Janet (owner/instructor) is not only a talented artist, but an extremely patient person, who loves to share her passion and expertise with children and adults. She has helped my daughter, and others, succeed at art in any way she can. It's no wonder she's been voted "Best Local Visual Artist" and "Best Of Chico" several years in a row. I can't speak highly enough of Janet and her love for helping others succeed!
Janet Lombardi Blixt has always been loving and professional with my child who has special needs. During one class last year My daughter was having trouble with a sensory overload and Janet went out of her way to create a safe quite place for her to relax and re-group. My daughter absolutely loves her and has been taking art with her for many years. Please, if your child is interested in art, give Janet a try! You won't be sorry!
Our daughter enrolled in and loved Chico Art School. She dreamt of having her art hang in museums all around the world. But our daughter is autistic. When we signed her up, Janet Blixt—owner, operator and sole teacher— assured us she had lots of experience with autistic children. And Ms. Blixt did improve our daughter’s art a lot. However, after some months Ms. Blixt, who receives state funding, expelled our daughter because "she was too much trouble." When I reminded Ms. Blixt of her assurances re autistic kids, she told me, "Kids with learning disabilities don't stay long in my classes. I get rid of them." Our daughter was devasted.
