I would not recommend this school to another parent if they have to deal with a teacher like the one I was given, whom was anything but professional. What I find even more concerning is when I brought my issues to the attenion of the director, they seemed to be simply dismissed. I was told to by the director she understands this means something to me and she is sorry. The particular issue with this teacher occured when I received a written notice stating I was basically on an initial warning for missing a visit with her as scheduled, this by the was was the first missed visit. However, the reason for this was that I had been out of town had gotten stuck in the snow was up all night because of this and the next morning still had to figure out how to get my car, so yes I did not attend the one visit. However, I did reschedule this visit for the following week .After that meeting I received my warning in the mail stating she spoke with me at the meeting about not attending etc. and the corrective action that would be taken. However, there was no such discussion of any issues. I did later explained this in detail to the director as I was not given the chance with the teacher because she did not discuss the issue with me. Not to mention you are suppose to meet with your teacher once a month scheduled by the teacher and after meeting with this teacher in October I was not contacted again for another visit till December. This particular teacher also didnt supply me with an outline of work that needed to be done as she should have. There was actually little efffort put forth by this teacher to keep in contact at all. I brought all of these issues up to the director as well and it too dismissed as were all the issues. I expressed to the director I was no longer comfortable with this teacher and would like another she then told me I had to meet with her another time, unless the teacher would allow me to see the new teacher I asked for. I found this be maddening, so I took my child out of this school entirely. Basically from what I can tell the teachers are able to do as they please and when they mess up the blame is then put on the parent and they take no responsibility. So if your looking for a good charter in the area I would not recommend this one!
I love this school
this is the best school ive ever gone to
Omogosh wow. I don't think I have been so insulted in my entire life..no joke. I am a self employed single mom who has her own place, car ...etc. During the intake I was asked VERY personal questions such as "if my child had a bed" or " if she had a mattress." Not to mention I was told that it wouldn't be a good idea to home school my daughter due to me being a single mom...because most families have " a stay at home mom and husband." No joke. So what if I had a stay at home dad, or was gay? I will be getting a hold of a supervisor:(
I love Core Butte Charter. My PLT is awesome, works good with my rambunctious & wacky kids. He is very flexible with my schedule & understands that we come over from another town to see him. Core Butte Charter is an excellent way to start out homeschooling. With homeschooling though, you do have to be proactive & sometimes independent, so if you're not looking to take some initiative, then this probably isn't going to work. For me Core allows me to have the amount of independence that I like with just the right support behind me.
