Not sure what has changed but the food was VERY poor.
Father's Day 2017: I ordered one of their new two entree dinners, 4oz. sirloin, and grilled shrimp skewer. I ordered mine medium rare, with green beans and fries. My wife ordered the same, but rare, and with garlic mashed potatoes, and steamed broccoli.
The server took my wife's meal off the bill. Thank you! But, we won't be visiting the Applebee's in Chico again ... (well, maybe if they get a real cook!).
Service was poor. Our server had time to chat at the bar, and not check on us. We ordered the brisket tacos. Big mistake. Yuck. They were covered in sauce and with cilantro. The cole slaw, was void of flavor. We waited for at least 20 minutes for our food after it was ordered. This was Veterans Day and we were not asked if my husband served. It will be a long time if ever, that we choose to go back.
The dinners arrived. Both steaks were well done, the potatoes were cold, and the steamed broccoli was raw and barely warm.
It's average to poor depending on who's cooking. Someone in there knows what they're doing as I've gotten one of the better steaks of my life there (for a cheap steak) so maybe you'll get lucky and the pro will be there when you. Most likely your food will be pale and soggy, however. Service is nice, hate it when the manager checks in. Don't need you doing the server's job, thanks, they're doing it just fine.
I seem to like coming here to meet people at the bar. The chicken n shrimp is sooo delicious. Im thinking about getting a job here so i can have a cool atmosphere to hang out this winter.
I'll not return until I see better results.
Service by staff was only bright spot.
