I discovered "Chico Cycle and Suspension", it's a small shop with very low overhead, and actually turned out to be the cheapest by a lot in town ($25 for tire change vs about $45 at north valley bike)
I think the reason I was mainly frusterated is because I have been giving him my loyal business ever since I got my motorcycle.
He would offer me discounts saying that he would give ME only a discount on that when really it's discounted for all (although he did give me a legit discount on a couple items once to be fair). He is known to mark up prices originally up high then put them on "sale" for what is normal online.
I guess I will now be giving my business elsewhere to a shop that isn't petty.
Great Place! I have worked with Frank and Sean for many years. They have been great to work with both buying parts and getting service on my many motorcycles. When I go in I am confident they will be helpful, freindly and honest. They go the extra mile to make sure you get good advice and are happy with their work. I recently went in an ordered parts for my BMW from Frank and Sean installed them for me. All facets of my transaction went well from purchase to installation. Sean really worked hard to finish in a timely manner and did a great job. I will be back with a smile.
I went here first week of September 2017 home made sign on the door read closed Sept 9th-25th. I came back today Sept 27th a new homemade sign says Closed till October 24th. Is this a front for heroin manufacturing or are they going to be open for more than a few days.
Just be weary at this shop....
The main frustrating experience is when I asked about getting some new tires on my motorcycle installed, he REFUSED simply because I bought them off craigslist and not from him! Then he went on to say I could of got cheaper if I bought from him, which is the absolutely absurd considering the deal I got...
Frank is the best! I went to him because I wanted a Schwinn 7 speed Cruiser. I couldn't afford it right away, but was able to put the bike on layaway, and after a few months I have the most beautiful bicycle in all of Chico. Franks's a man of his word, too. Even though the fenders I ordered went above the price he quoted me, he held to his quote. Best of all, you get a lifetime of service when you buy a bike from North Valley Bicycle. As long as you own the bike, you get free tune-ups. I'm going back to have him install a rack this week. I totally trust NVB, and would highly recommend this as the place to get a great bike, wonderful service, and the best for your money. Don't settle for a $100 bike at a discount store. Get your bike from Frank!
I went into this establishment yesterday with a flat tire off my wife's bicycle. The owner, Frank, saw a puncture in the tire and said "ah ha, I know what contributed to the problem, you're tire is old, did you know that old tires are more prone for a flat?" So I believed him and bought a new tire and tube. It wasn't until I got home that I realized the tire he said was old was actually brand new--it still had the little rubber "thorns" poking out of the sides to show how new the tire was. Does this individual possess such little knowledge of bicycles that he cannot tell the difference between a new and old tire or is something else going on?
Sean the Mechanic is a great man and good businessman... Frank(shop owner) however is a little sketchy and shiesty. He talked to me a while my first visit which gave me a lot of respect for him. However, I started to learn about him....
