Great place to go get some fresh air. Make sure no valuables are visible if you park your car here. Don't eat the fish from horseshoe lake as there used to be a popular shooting range just up the hill, there was a cleanup effort but I don't trust that they were competent in that task.
I've lived in Chico all of my life. Since I became a grand parent,my grand daughter loves Hooker Oak Park. She loves to swing and play on the play structure. She loves to ride our bikes around 5 mile & She loves playing disc golf as well. This park is family friendly I would recommend it to anyone.
Beautiful location with so many trails to walk & hike! I was even in an area where I was able to use my walker to go around a little pond. Stayed to watch the sunset. Take the time to unplug to go, you will not regret it!
All I have to say is that Bidwell's upper park is just fantastic. Simply perfect. Having bike paths, trails for hiking, multiple swimming areas and just the beauty of being outdoors. So proud to say I've been taking a full dose of the outdoors regularly and have noticed that my it brings out my best self
Great for day hikes and swimming, one of my favorite places in Chico. You'll find a lot of photos opportunities if you're into that. Also, I always find some wildlife here.. wild turkeys, deer etc are common. The park is HUGE with miles and miles of hiking trails. Good place to bring your dogs too.. i live watching sunset from Monkey face
